Aww, look at the sailboats!

April sure is one busy month! Jon was gone underway (out to sea) the last week of March, first day of April. On Friday the 2nd, my parents came to visit. I hadnt seen them since July!!! Jon and I picked them up at the airport and went out to lunch at the new Nascar Cafe in Newport News. I forgot how much we laugh when we're all together!!!

Haha, the sun was in our eyes, but apparently it affected me the most?? Retarded face, I know! But I love how tall I look...gotta love those 5 inch wedges!! After lunch we drove home and relaxed for a few minutes before heading down to the base. Jon thinks that when you have company, you need to be doing things every minute! So we went and saw the USS New York, its a beautiful ship...or as beautiful as a ship can be!

After the base, we went to the NEX (Navy Exchange), its like a mall but for military families, then we went to the commisary (military grocery store) and picked up a few last minute things for dinner. I...Oh, backup just a second! At the NEX, I got more stemless wine glasses! I had to share that little tid bit! Jon got me stemless wine glasses for Christmas, but he only got me 2, so I got some more. LOVE them! Ok, anyways, I made salsa chicken for dinner - SO good! We ate then watched a movie and went to bed! We all slept in on Saturday. My mom and I cooked breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. Then we got dressed and went back to the base to go on a tour of Jons ship. Jon was in charge of taking pics on that outting and surprise, surprise...he didnt take any. So, we have nothing to show for it! I got to see a lot on that tour, I got to go up into the bridge, where the steering wheel thing is...for a ship that big, the steering wheel was surprisingly small! The steering wheel in my car is bigger! After the tour we went out to lunch, then headed home for a couple hours of R&R. I made dinner reservations for my favorite seafood restaurant, Mahi Mah's. Best tuna steaks EVER! In this area there are bays and marinas everywhere, and you can see boats everywhere you go. We were heading to the restaurant, my mom is in the backseat with my step dad, I was driving and Jon was in the passenger seat. Its dark outside and we're driving over a bridge. This bridge, however, did not go over water, it went over another highway. My mom, who's eyesight is not so great, looks out her window and goes "Aww, look at the sailboats!" We all turn to look out the window and I'm almost 100% positive that we all had the same puzzled look on our faces. Jon decides to be the one to break the news to her "Umm, nope, that's a parking lot". We all died laughing! The parking lot on the side of the highway had lamp posts lined down the aisles, and my mother thought they were sailboats! Sunday morning we made breakfast again, hung around the house for a little, then drove back up to Newport News for lunch and then I had to drop my parents and Jon off at the airport. Jon was on the same flight back to Atlanta, his friend Hamesh was picking him up there and then they drove up to Knoxville. Jon spent a couple days visiting with his friends and family and he got back last night. We all know I am NOT a fan of Knoxville, so I'm happy I was able to use work as an excuse not to go!

This weekend (tomorrow) Jon and I are heading to Christiansburg, VA to visit Jons grandparents (on his mom's side). They are my FAVORITE from his side! His grandma is one of the most wonderful people I know! I cant wait to spend the weekend with her! When Jon left for Haiti, she was the ONLY one who called to see how I was doing. She told me all about this photo album she put together, all pictures of Jon while he was growing up, then she left space for me to put pics of myself as I was growing up, then she put in pictures of Jon and me when we were dating and from the wedding. I cant wait, I know this album will end up being one of my most prized possessions! She'll go on and on about how Jon is her favorite grandchild, and she doesnt care who knows it. On Monday, Jon will leave to go underway again, I think he comes back on Friday. Then next Saturday (the 17th) is a friends baby shower. The following weekend (the 25th) will be out first wedding anniversary!!! Can you believe it? Its already been one year! It went by so fast! It wasn't always easy and I'll be the first to admit that at times I just wanted to say "screw it" and go back home. But nothing worth while is ever easy and I know I would be so miserable without Jon in my life. So the things he does, no matter how much they tick me off, are worth putting up with if it means being Mrs. Lockett. I wouldn't want anyone else to have that title!!
